Ronald Brownell Obituary

Ronald E. "Ron" Brownell

Jan 25, 1939 - Jun 27, 2022

Sandusky

Ronald E. "Ron" Brownell, 83, of Sandusky, passed away peacefully early Monday morning, June 27, 2022, with family and his wife at his side at Firelands Regional Medical Center, Main Campus, Sandusky.

Ron was born Jan. 25, 1939, in Sandusky, the son of Bert and Lillian Barbara (Liphart) Brownell. He attended Sandusky High School. Ron worked at Sandusky Ford Motor Company for 31 years, retiring in 1999. Prior to that, he worked at American Crayon and Ohio Impression Tool and Die Company.

Over the years, Ron enjoyed riding his scooter around, listening to his country music, and watching Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Browns, and The Ohio State University football games. He loved spending time with his family and the grandchildren and attending their activities, but what he mostly loved to do was spend time with his wife, Barbara, sitting down by the water and taking in the scenery.

Ron was a member of First Faith Community Church for 65 years and U.A.W. Local #1216.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 65 years, Barbara A. (Dickman) Brownell, whom he married on August 10, 1957; his family, Rhonda (David) Lang, Kevin (Lisa) Brownell, Christine "Chris" (Dan) McLaughlin, Rodney "Rod" (Kay) Brownell, Steven "Steve" (Kristy) Brownell, and Lori (Jimmy) Thom; 14 grandchildren, Heather (Jason) Zess, Holly (Jarret) Ensign, Ryan (Holly), Nick (Kara), Chase (Meredith) and Tyler (Dana) Brownell, Beth Ann (Matt) Williams, Dr. Rachel and Sean Brownell, Capt. Cody Brownell (U.S. Army) and Allison (Jacob) Dawkins, Jacob, Jaden, and Lillie Thom; 20 great-grandchildren, Alexis, Max and Cal Zess, Lake and Sonny Ensign, Mylan, Sicily, Ella, Dawson, Hayden, Berkley, Lucas, Caroline, Billie, and Kelly, Landon, Lyllah and Ledger Williams, Penelope Dawkins, and Ashlynn; goddaughter, Kellie (Tod) Reed; two sisters, Diane (Buddy) Games and Sharon Roth; and many nieces and nephews.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents; two granddaughters, Erika Lynn McLaughlin (1988) and Marina Ann Elizabeth Brownell (2000); four brothers, Gerald B. "Jerry" Brownell, two in infancy, and half-brother, Eugene Liphart.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday, June 30, 2022, at David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky, and Friday morning, July 1, 2022, from 9 a.m. until time of the funeral at 11 a.m. at First Faith Community Church, 435 Hancock Street, Sandusky. The Rev. John A. Apple will be officiating. Entombment will be at Oakland Cemetery Cedars Mausoleum, Sandusky.

The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made in his memory to First Faith Community Church Building Fund, 435 Hancock Street, Sandusky, Ohio, 44870.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss, it has been along time since we talked but he is the kind of person I will never forget. A good family man that I wish I would have had as a father.
