Columbus
Stephen Damko, 95, formerly of Sandusky and residing in Columbus, passed away Monday, Jan. 29, 2024.
He was born in Castalia to Stephen and Anna (Lukacs) Damko. He was a resident of Sandusky most of his life.
He graduated from Sandusky High School in 1946, earned his undergraduate degree from Kent State University in 1951, and then enlisted in U.S. Army. Following his military service, he was accepted into The Ohio State University College of Dentistry, graduated in 1958, and practiced for over 30 years in Sandusky.
He was a member of American Dental Association, Ohio Dental Association, Sandusky Elks Lodge #285, and V.F.W. Post #2529. He was also a lifetime member of Ohio State Alumni Association.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, JoAnn (O'Neill) Damko; son, William Damko (Jean); daughter, Ellen Brink (David); grandchildren, Nicholas, Samuel (Meghan), and Mary Damko; brother-in-law, Patrick (Sue) O'Neill; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Stephen was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Roesch; and brother-in-law, Earl Roesch.
Cremation will take place with a private family memorial service and burial at Oakland Cemetery to be observed at a future date.
Groff Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting family with arrangements.

Was sad to hear this news. Hope all, particularly Mrs. Damko, Ellen, and Bill, are holding up okay.
Dr. Damko was a lovely man from that wonderful bygone era. Calm, good-natured, responsible, witty. A life well lived. May many happy memories comfort you all.
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and may perpetual light shine upon him. Amen.
