Sylvia Hill Obituary

Sylvia Lea (Miller) Hill

Aug 27, 1948 - Jul 16, 2025

Sierra Vista, AZ

Sylvia Lea (Miller) Hill, 76, of Sierra Vista, Arizona, passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, July 16, 2025, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Her beloved husband, Gary, was by her side.

Born August 27, 1948, in Sandusky, Ohio, Sylvia was the daughter of the late Quentin and Jean (Trueman) Miller. She graduated from Perkins High School in 1966. After high school, Sylvia began working at the JCPenney Co. store in Sandusky, where she met the love of her life, Gary. They married November 1, 1969, and made their home in Arizona in 1973.

One of Sylvia's greatest life achievements was becoming a mother and raising her two sons, Matthew and Michael. When her boys were young, she was a dedicated stay-at-home mom who also found success as a sales representative for House of Lloyd and Christmas Around the World. Her hard work and enthusiasm made her a top seller, earning her memorable trips to destinations such as Thailand, Germany, London, Greece, Alaska, and Hawaii. When her boys were older, she returned to the workforce full-time, working as a security specialist at the Fort Huachuca Army installation in southeast Arizona, first as a contractor and later as a federal employee.

Sylvia will be deeply missed by her husband, Gary, of 55 years; her sons, Matthew (Crystal) and Michael (Sarah); her cherished grandsons, Micah, Elijah, Zachary, and Joshua; her sisters, Barb Swain and Patti Wilson; and her brother, Jeff Miller.

A private celebration of Sylvia's life took place with family and close friends Sunday, July 20, 2025.
