Vincent G. Donald, 48, residing in Sandusky, passed away unexpectedly Friday, Sept. 23, 2022, at Firelands Regional Medical Center.

Vince was born Feb. 4, 1974, in Sandusky, to the late Frank L. and Sadie M. (Ray) Donald.

Vince began his Perkins Township Police Department law enforcement career in 1994 as Auxiliary Officer and in 1996 became a full-time law enforcement officer. In 2002, he was promoted to Sergeant, in 2011 promoted to Lieutenant, in 2017 promoted to Assistant Chief, and in 2020, was promoted to Chief of Police. During his 26 years policing, Vince attended many training sessions, one being Public Service Leadership Academy (PLSA), a 13-week course through John Glenn College of Public Affairs Another was Police Executive Leadership College (PELC), a three-week executive leadership training program. Most recently, in May, 2022, Vince completed FBI's National Command Course in Stanford, Virginia. Vince was also assigned to Erie County Drug Task Force from 1998-2004 and Toledo Division of the DEA from 2004-2008. He thoroughly enjoyed his police work and representing Perkins Police Department in any and all community activities.

Vince graduated from Sandusky High School in 1992. He enjoyed his bowling, softball, Dart's League, and going out to socialize. Vince was a huge Buckeyes and Browns fan. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Vince is survived by his longtime girlfriend, Amanda Adler; daughter, Jaiden Borzon; sisters, Vanessa Curtis of Dayton, Cecelia Ferguson of Georgia, Annette Alexander of Sandusky, Gwendolyn D. (Marcus Clarke) Ray of Prattville, Alabama, and Sharon Ray of Sandusky; brothers, Michael Donald Sr. of Sandusky, Darnell Donald of Sandusky, Tyrone Donald of New Orleans, Louisiana, and Gregory Ray of Lima, Ohio; aunts, Pearlie Manuel of Chatom, Alabama, Marilyn (Roscoe) Gaston of Chatom, Alabama, Boria Harris of Houston, Texas, and Christine Jackson of Waynesboro, Mississippi; and several other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, Vince was preceded in death by his brothers, Frank Donald Jr. and Herbert Hill; and grandmother, Arguster McNeal.

Friends may call 12-7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2022, at The Chapel, 4444 Galloway Rd, Sandusky. FOP Lake Erie Lodge #17 will conduct fraternal services Wednesday evening. Vincent's funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, 2022, with Pastor John Adams officiating. Burial will follow at Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron. Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting family with arrangements.
