August J. Maschari Jr., 88, Sandusky, passed away Friday, January 10, 2025, at his residence.

He was born March 13, 1936, in Sandusky to the late August and Mary (Deno) Maschari, Sr. August was also a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He was employed by Industrial Nut, former Cardinal's Food Store, Manotti's Wine Shop, and also worked for the railroad for a short period of time.

He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, and American Legion Post 83. August loved riding his red scooter with the sidecar, listening to music, going to concerts, dancing, going to the parks downtown and Cedar Point, being a band parent while his kids were in school, and spending time with his many grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Beverly (Houghtlen) Maschari; children, Wanda (Gregory) Ruppert, David "DJ" Maschari, Aletha (Deacon Patrick) Ouellette, and August "Corky" (Samantha Sue) Maschari; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and the numerous foster children he cared for.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother in infancy, Leo; and grandchildren, Noelle and Michael.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, January 16, 2025, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 503 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, the Rev. Prasbanth Kumar will officiate. American Legion Post 83 Color Guard and V.F.W. Post 2529 Honor Guard will provide the military tribute.
