Gary Manasco Obituary

Gary W. Manasco

Nov 6, 1954 - Oct 9, 2025

Bellevue

Gary Wayne Manasco, 70, passed away Thursday, October 9, 2025. He was born November 6, 1954, in Bellevue. Gary was a dedicated high school teacher and coach, whose passion for education and sportsmanship was only second to his love for his family.

Gary was a proud and loving husband to Brenda Manasco, with whom he shared over 48 years of marriage. He is survived by his wife; children, Jonathon Manasco and Alison (Scott) O'Neal; grandchildren, Jack, Margaret, Ruby, and Maximus; sisters, Teresa (David) Soldano and Martha Bradberry; and loving nieces and nephews.

Gary is preceded in death by his father, E.M. Manasco; his mother, Geneva Manasco; his sister, Wanda Manasco; and his brother-in-law, Hal Bradberry.

Gary was a dedicated science teacher who loved to spark curiosity in his students. Outside the classroom, he was a committed coach, spending numerous years nurturing young talents in Little League, high school basketball, and as a varsity golf coach at Seneca East High School for over 20 years. His passion for golf was infectious, and he found peace on any golf course he played. In 2019, Gary was awarded the OHSAA Award for Sportsmanship, Ethics, and Integrity. Despite this achievement, he was always more likely to celebrate the achievements of others over his own. The family would like to express their gratitude to the Seneca East community, who showed Gary immense love and respect when Alzheimer's disease brought upon retirement earlier than he would have hoped.

Gary graduated from Bellevue Senior High School, the University of North Alabama, and Ashland University. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and a lifelong blood donor, a testament to his generosity.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday, October 20, 2025, at Auxter-Recker Funeral Home, 1105 Castalia Street, Bellevue, Ohio, 44811. Funeral Service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at St. John's Lutheran Church, 209 Southwest Street, Bellevue, Ohio, 44811.

Memorial donations can be made to St. John's Lutheran Church or Seneca East Athletic Boosters.

Although I lost contact with Gary when I retired in 2003, I often thought about him, and our friendship while we taught together at SE. We'd spend time discussing current events and science topics during free periods. He was greatly admired and loved by his students, including my own children, Ken and Bonnie.

Mr. Manasco was my teacher many years ago, and one of very few I remember fondly. His love for teaching was unmatched, and he had such a warm personality. My heart goes out to his family.

I got to know Gary when my kids played golf for SE High School, Christopher played all four of his years in the mid 2000's and Sara played a couple of years. I drove the Golf Bus and Gary taught me how to keep the scores, so he didn't have to. We had a lot of great memories over the 4 years the kids were in golf. I was so sorry to hear of his loss, Alzheimer's robs so many wonderful people of a beautiful life.
