Joseph Hedley Lee "Joe" Dzwonkowski, 80, passed away peacefully Saturday, June 29, 2024, at home in Vestavia Hills, Alabama.
He was born Sept. 28, 1941, in St. John's, Newfoundland, to Daphne and Joseph Dzwonkowski. Joe grew up in St. John's, Huron, and Niagara Falls, New York. He attended DeVeaux Academy in Niagara Falls and graduated from University of Buffalo, New York, with a degree in Economics and Accounting. He further obtained his CPA certification, accepting a position with Arthur Anderson in Boston, Massachusetts. Joe was an avid businessman, owning several companies in a variety of industries including Consulting Turn Around Businesses, Finance, Woodworking, and Security Systems. He was the owner of Emperor Clock Co. and a Sonitrol dealer for many years.
Joe is survived by his beloved wife of 21 years, E Jane Geissler Dzwonkowski; children, Joseph Hedley Lee (Kathryn) Dzwonkowski II, Robert Valmore (Erin) Dzwonkowski, Harrison Morgan (Allison) Dzwonkowski, and Hannah Monique Dzwonkowski (Kevin) Keegan; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Valmore Dzwonkowski; and sister, Daphne (Ralph) Bloomberg.
Joe loved reading, playing golf, sailing, University of Alabama football, and playing Gin with his cousin, Hubie, and friends and most of all his family. Basically, he loved life and touched the hearts of many.
Joe's memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, 2024, at the Chapel at Vestavia Hills Methodist Church and Saturday, Sept. 28, 2024, at Madow Green Cemetery, Huron, with the time to be announced.
