Karen Sue (Curry) Slater, 81, residing in Sandusky, passed away Sunday afternoon, March 1, 2026, at Parkvue Health Care Center.

Karen was born March 20, 1944, in Huntington, West Virginia, to the late Robert and Randy (Crum) Curry.

Karen graduated from Sandusky High School in the class of 1962. She was a Co-Owner at Ned's Inc for over 50 years. Karen was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and Zonta International, and a volunteer with Zion Church Council, American Cancer Society, and American Red Cross. She enjoyed reading, puzzles, games and traveling, especially to visit family.

Karen is survived by her husband of 64 years, Delbert "Dean" Slater, whom she married August 28, 1961. She is also survived by her daughter, Keli (Drew) McCan of Virginia; three sons, Brenton (Kristin) Slater of Sandusky, Bret (Terri) Slater of Virginia, and Randy Slater of Sandusky; brother, Leslie Talbot of Florida; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and other relatives.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of service at noon Thursday, March 5, 2026, at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, with Pastor Michael Conklin. Burial will be at a later date at Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
