Pauline M. "Paula" (DeCaro) Cunningham, 94, of Sandusky, passed away late Friday morning, March 3, 2023, at Wickshire Countryside ALDS, Clearwater, Florida.

Paula was born Oct. 4, 1928, in Sandusky, the daughter of Anthony and Dominica (Maralla) DeCaro. She was a graduate of Sandusky High School. In her earlier years, she worked at Philco Co., New Departure-Hyatt Inc., and later worked as a waitress for nearly 30 years at Impala (for John C. "Johnny" Barone) and also at Hickory Steak House. Paula worked part-time at Thunderbird Golf Course, Huron.

For many years, Paula and her husband, Clyde, lived in Sun Lakes, Arizona, before moving back to Sandusky. Being an avid golfer, she played golf in several local ladies golf leagues for several years.

Paula was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, Italian-American Beneficial Club Ladies Auxiliary, Club Amer Ital (Bellevue), Ladies Golf Association and Sandusky High Alumni Association.

She is survived by two sons, Sam (Mary Jo) Artino of Palm Harbor, Florida, and Norman Obermeyer Jr. of Norwalk; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Paula was preceded in death by her parents; husband of nearly 58 years, whom she married Feb. 6, 1965, Clyde Thomas Cunningham who passed Jan. 29, 2023; daughter-in-law, Debra Obermeyer; four brothers, Charles DeCaro, Angelo DeCaro, Alfred DeCaro, and Eldridge DeCaro; and five sisters, Josephine "Josie" Centorbi, Carmella Roma, Angeline Tomassi, Ethel Loretta, and Anna Marie "Annie" Barone.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday, March 17, 2023, at David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Prayers will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, March 18, 2023, at the funeral home followed by Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Fr. Mark J. Herzog will officiate. Burial will be at Meadow Green Cemetery, Huron.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to Erie County Community Foundation to benefit "The Samuel R. and Anna M. Barone Family Fund," 135 Washington Row, Sandusky, Ohio, 44870 (contribute online at eriefoundation.org) or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee, 38105-9959.

Lunch at Sam and Mary's home. I gave Pauline my moms cat earrings, she loved them. My mom always was excited when Pauline was back in Sandusky. Many souls will be happy to have her back. RIP
